The address validation module is a very powerful address lookup, verification and correction system. Address validation and correction improves the quality of your database and ensures the address information is acceptable to the post office. Validation cleans your mailing list records, adds the proper information, and corrects the address composition and spelling according to the postal standards. With the program you can lookup or verify individual addresses in interactive mode or process complete lists unattended in batch mode.
Address validation uses a postal data file to lookup and verify addresses. All the fields on the postal data file may be written into your database if desired. This feature makes it ideal for populating existing databases with extra information available in the postal data file.
The program has powerful and sophisticated extended searching facilities that can track down even very difficult or misspelled names or addresses. Search features include 'Sounds Like', and 'Spelled Like' searches - as well as allowing the use of 'Wildcards' at the end of fields.
To verify and correct addresses, the program offers the following functions:
Interactive validation. The program allows you to clean up existing databases using the postal data file for interactive cleaning or automatic addition of postcodes and other postal information. You can use this feature to go through your addresses one-by-one and to correct addresses that are marked as invalid during the batch validation process. The program will verify each address, make corrections when necessary, or show a list of close matches when the program is unable to decide which address it should be.
Batch validation. The batch validation function allows you to validate a complete file unaided: verifying and correcting as many addresses as possible. The program provides detailed information about the validation status of each record. Corrections are recorded and when a record was not correctable, it identifies the problem, enabling you to correct the address in an interactive process.
