FlexStream enables you to open one or more document files. You can open them all at once or open one and then append additional files to the one(s) that is(are) already open.
For each opened document file, you can select or specify a layout. For each layout you can set options like duplexing, leading- and trailing pages contained in the document, and page scaling.
FlexStream can open one or multile Pdf-files. If you have only one file to process then you should use the Link Document File functionality. If, however you have multiple files to open you have the choice of either opening multiple documents at once or opening a single document and then appending the other document(s) to the end of the previous files. Each of these methods is explained in more details in the following sections.
To open a single document or open multiple document files, select Link in the Document Files panel on the Datasources ribbon.
You are then presented with an Link Data dialog which you can use to browse to the required file(s). FlexStream is designed to work with Pdf files with the extension .pfd. You can select a single file by clicking on it or select multiple files by pressing the Ctrl key and selecting multiple files.
Once the document(s) has/have been selected you click the Open button. As the document is loaded into FlexStream a wait cursor is displayed. The length of time that FlexStream takes to load documents is dependent on the size of the document(s) and the speed of the computer being used.
Once the document(s) have been loaded, they are displayed on screen. If multiple documents have been loaded they are displayed as one merged document on screen. The number of pages contained in the loaded document(s) are displayed in the status bar at the left bottom of the screen.
When you want to merge multiple documents together, but they are either in different directories or if you only want to merge some of the documents in a directory, then you can use the Append Document File functionality of FlexStream. You can use Append in conjunction with Open Document File. To use Append Document File follow the instructions for opening a single document and then for each document that you want to append, select Append in the Document Files panel on the Datasources ribbon.
If necessary, you can remove linked document files from your project. You do so, by clicking Remove in the Document Files Panel and selecting the file you want to remove from the list.
Please note that only the link to that file is removed from your project. The actual file is not removed (deleted) form your system.
After linking one or more document files to your project, you can set the order of the documents, select a layout to use for each document, and set several options for each layout you are using.
You can change the document order by moving the files up and down in the list in the Document Files dialog. The files will be displayed and processed in the order that you specify here. During processing the documents will be processed and by default kept in the order of these files.
For each document file you have linked to your project, you can select a layout to use. You select the layout either on the ribbon or in the Document Files dialog.
Per layout you can set options for:
