The Document File Options dialog gives you control over the way the pages in a document file are handled. You can set the following options:
Duplexing: Here you can specify if a loaded document was produced single sided or double sided (duplex), and you can make a single sided document double sided.
Cover pages: Using these settings you can remove any leading or trailing pages contained in the input document(s) from the output document.
Page scaling: This option gives you control over the way the input document is printed on the output page size if this size is different from the page size of the original document.
All options can be set per layout used by the loaded documents, so if you change a setting this will have effect on al the documents files using this layout.
The Duplexing page of the Document File Options dialog allows you to specify the type of duplexing of the linked document and change single sided documents to double sided documents if necessary.
You may select one of the following options:
Select this option for document files that are single sided and that will be printed single sided.
Select this option if the loaded file is produced as duplex document (pages have front- and back-sides) and will be printed double sided.
Using this option FlexStream processes the loaded file and adds a back side to each page as a blank page. You can then use this back side to add print objects like an overlay, scancode etc.
Using this option FlexStream processes the loaded file and calculates where it should add blank pages. These blank pages are added to ensure that any documents that have an odd number of pages do not result in the first page of a subsequent document being place on its last reverse side.
Please note that as long as you have not defined document breaks, every page will be treated as a single document and a blank page will be insterted after each page.
After setting one of the duplexing options, you can choose to place the print objects on either the front or reverse sides of the page.
The Cover pages page of the Document File Options dialog allows you to remove any leading and/or trailing pages in the document file from the resulting output file.
If the loaded document contains leading pages, you can remove them from processing by setting this option. You can specify the number of leading pages that the file contains and they will be removed from the resulting file.
Similary to leading pages, you can remove any trailing pages contained in the loaded document. You can specify the number of trailing pages that the file contains and they will be removed from the resulting file.
The Scaling page of the Document File Options dialog allows you to control the scaling of pages in case the page size of the pages in the loaded document file is different from the output page size you have selected. It also allows you to move and position the pages of he loaded document - scaled or not - on the selected output page.
In the Size group, select any scaling you want:
No scaling. The page will be positioned in the top-left corner of the output page, in its orginal size. When the output page is smaller then the original page size, the page will be clipped on the right and bottom sides.
Scale to page. The pages in the loaded document file will be resized to fit the selected output file size. When the output page size you have selected is larger then the pages in the input file, the pages will be enlarged, scaling all contents. When the output page size is smaller, the page size will be reduced until it fits the output page size.
Scale to margins. The pages of the loaded document will be resized to fit within the margins of the output document. Please note that the margins depend on the selected printer, so make sure you have selected the printer that you will use when printing the documents.
Custom. Custom allows you to specify any scaling you want. The percentages you specify in the Scale boxes are relative to the original size of the document.
With any of the scaling options, the aspect ratio (height-width ratio) will remain in tact by default. However, if you want to specify different height en width scaling, you can do so by unchecking the Lock aspect ratio box.
Select the alignment you want in the Position group. The distance you specify in the Offset boxes are relative to the alignment you have selected. The offsets will be reset to 0 when you select another alignment.
TIP: You can also move the page with your mouse by right-clicking on the document and selecting Move Pdf.
