When a validation status field is available in your database, this will be used to record a code indicating the action taken with your address while using one of the validation functions.
To make selecting of a group of records with a specific validation status easy, Address Validation offers a Validation filter function that you can use to select one or more groups of records with a specific status. To set a validation Filter, click Validation Filter in the Address Validation group on the Postal tab.
When you activate a validation filter, FlexMail filters out all the records except those matching the group of result codes you selected. Note that records are only filtered out of the display, they are not deleted from your database. No data is lost as a result of the filter.
NOTE: If you set a validation filter, it will remove all other filters that are currently active. However, you may select multiple validation filters to work together (e.g. Invalid Addresses and Foreign Addresses). The Validation Filters that are active are checked in the menu.
There are 4 groups of validation status codes that you can filter on:
Valid Addresses. These are records that were marked as correct the last time they were validated. The validation status starts with a 'V'.
Corrected Addresses. These records were either incorrect or incomplete, but the program was able to correct the address. Also the formatting of the address might have been changed according to your specifications. The validation status of these records starts with a 'C'.
Invalid Addresses. Records marked as invalid are either records that have not been validated before of have a validation status indicating that they could not be corrected without user-intervention. These can be because no matching address could be found or because multiple matches were found in the postal data file. The validation status of these records starts with an 'I'.
Foreign Addresses. These are addresses that had a country code other than the country you were validating the addresses for. The validation status of these records starts with a 'F.
For more information about the meaning of the used codes see Validation status codes.
