The Product and product options page of the Presort Wizard is used to select the Royal Mail bulk mail product, the level of sortation and set options related to the machine-readability of the mailing.
NOTE: The products and related options available are dependent upon the mailing size and weight you have entered in the previous windows of the Wizard.
Choose one of the Royal Mail bulk mail products from the Product list. Only bulk mail products will be shown that are available for the specified mailing size and weight.
Advertising Mail. Mailings which comprise a largely uniform message to all addressees, with the purpose of promoting the sale or use of products or services, or to encourage contribution to, or support of a cause.
Business Mail (1st Class). Business Mail 1st Class and Business Mail will typically contain general correspondence and items of a personalised nature for transactional, contractual or relationship purposes. Generally it is for mailings that do not qualify for Advertising Mail, Sustainable Advertising Mail or Publishing Mail.
Publishing Mail. Publishing Mail is a service for periodicals such as newsletters, journals and magazines (but not brochures, catalogues, directories and exhibition guides).
Sustainable Advertising Mail. To post Sustainable Advertising Mail, your items must meet the following criteria:
Comprise of a largely uniform message to all addressees, with the purpose of promoting the sale or use of products or services, or to encourage contribution to, or support of a cause.
Meet the Sustainable specifications which are aligned to PAS 2020 - the environmental standard for direct marketing developed by the direct marketing industry. There are two levels of specification: Entry and Intermediate
Select the presortation level you want for the mailing in the Sortation list:
Unsorted. Mail will not be sorted, but a discount is available if your mail is prepared so that addresses can be read by Royal Mail's sorting machines (OCR or Barcode).
Low Sort. Mail is sorted to a maximum of 88 ways.
High sort. Mail is sorted up to 1525 Direct selections or 88 Residiue Selections as detailed in the Royal mail Selection Files.
When your letters are machine-readable they can be sorted automatically which takes less time and costs less money. Select one of the machine-readability options in the Machinabilty list. These options will only appear if they are available for the item size, product, and selected sort level.
OCR. Select this option if your mail meets Royal Mail's OCR (Optical Character Recognition) machine-readable specification as detailed in the Machine-readable letter chapter of the user guide.
Barcode. Select this option if your mail meets Royal Mail's Barcoded machine-readable specification as detailed in the Machine-readable letter chapter of the user guide.
