FlexMail allows you to load, display and print images as a background on your design. All the image formats supported in FlexMail for images are also supported for backgrounds. This also includes PDF-files. For image formats that contain multiple images, you can select the image you want to use. The image you select will be displayed - and optionally printed - at every page.
Backgrounds can be used in two ways:
As a design template at design time only. An example of this is for instance using a scanned image of a pre-printed form on which you need to position elements very precisely.
As a background for your design that is printed. In this case the background is used as a desing element that will be printed together with any other variable contents. An example could be the use of a letter in PDF format on wich you add variable contents with FlexMail.
To select a Background or to modify options:
On the Designer tab, in the Options group, click Background.
If you only want to use the background as a design template, turn off Print Background.
To select the image you want to use as a background, click Browse. If the file you selected contains multiple pages or images, select the page.
In the Size group, select any scaling you want. The percentages you specify in the Scale boxes are relative to the original size of the image.
In the Position group, select the alignment you want. The distance you specify in the Offset boxes are relative to the alignment you have selected.
In the Appearance group, specify the options you want:
Grayscale. Select this option to convert a color picture to black and white. Each color converts to an equivalent grayscale level.
Watermark. Select this option to format the picture with preset brightness and contrast settings that work well for watermarks.
To remove a background from your design:
On the Designer tab, in the Options group, click Background.
Click Remove at the bottom of the Background windows that appears.
