FlexMail is capable of dealing with addresses of a wide variety of countries. However, in order to be able to treat a certain address according to the rules that apply to a country, FlexMail needs to be able to identify the country an address belongs to.
In order to do this, FlexMail contains a complete list of all countries in the world. This list contains the official country name of each country together with the official codes to identify a country. The codes used in the list are the ISO-2 (2-character code), ISO-3 (3-character code), and international telephone prefixes for each country
Each section describes one of these steps:
If you are using other codes for one or more countries in the databases you use, you can modify, add, and delete codes linked to a country.
To modify the codes you use for a country:
On the Postal tab, in the Countries group, click Edit codes.
Select the country you want to change and modify the code. Make sure the code is unique within the table.
You can combine two or more codes with the same translation in one code field by typing a semicolon ( ; ) between the codes.
Choose OK.
NOTE: Because the country codes are stored in a separate file and are used by all projects, any changes you make will apply to all projects.
You can export the country codes and descriptions to a Value List. Only the country descriptions for which a code is available will be exported. You can use this exported file to translate the country code into the full country name in the Datasheet using a Lookup funcntion.
To export the country codes and their descriptions to a Value List:
On the Postal tab, in the Countries group, click Edit codes.
On the Edit country codes dialog click Export.
Select an existing file name if you want to replace an existing Value List or type a file name to export the codes to a new list.
Choose OK to start the export and return to the Edit country codes dialog.
Choose OK.
